About our history

The Brazilian Association of Aviation Psychology, ABRAPAV, was created on August 27, 2013, with social, non-economic, scientific and educational focus.
Initially, we started with a team of 19 psychologists, who participated in various areas of the aviation scenario, since the 1980s.
Headquartered in the city of Rio de Janeiro, it aims to bring together psychologists who are interested in the development of Psychology applied to the aeronautical environment, in favor of improving air transport safety conditions and the well-being of people who, directly or indirectly, are linked to this activity.
Its first board began the formalization of the association, creating its statute, which enabled a systematization of regulations to guide its growth.

GOALS

ABRAPAV aims to be identified as a reference entity in Brazil for Psychology applied to the aeronautical environment, seeking to integrate and contribute to the training of psychologists who work or are willing to work in this context; and, furthermore, to promote the strengthening of air transport safety and the promotion of human health and well-being.

Attributions

To reach our goal, ABRAPV seeks:

Promote education, training and professional recognition in Aviation Psychology.
Identify and register the network of professionals working in Aviation Psychology in Brazil.
Encourage and promote the exchange of knowledge, experiences and studies in the field of Aviation Psychology and Human Factors in the aeronautical environment.
Cooperate with various institutions on issues related to Psychology applied to the aeronautical environment.
Encourage scientific research and practical applications in the field of Aviation Psychology.
Promote communication and exchange between academia, different organizations, civil or military, and regulatory entities.
Promote the sharing of best practices and the optimization of resources, aiming to increase health, well-being and safety in the aeronautical environment.
Promote collaboration between all those involved with Psychology applied to the aeronautical environment, seeking integrated solutions to existing problems and future challenges.
Keep organizational documents updated in order to promoting their effective functioning.
Preserve and disseminate the history of Brazilian Aviation Psychology.

2013

• Foundation of ABRAPAV.
• 2013-2016 Board Election.
• Elaboration and approval of the ABRAPAV Statute.
• 1st Meeting of ABRAPAV Founders.

2014

• Name search with the Civil Registry of Legal Entities.
• Request for inclusion in the National Register of Legal Entities (CNPJ/MF).
• Registration of ABRAPAV's Statute with the Civil Registry of Legal Entities.
• Survey of the availability to request a license address.
• License request.

2015

• Bank account opening at Caixa Econômica Federal.
• Domain registration "com.br" and "org.br".
• Accountant Services Contract.
• Press release about the Germanwings accident.

2016

• Definition of “Aviation Psychology”, PsiAv's activities and fields of action.
• Visit and meeting with the Federal Council of Psychology.
• Establishment of an organizing committee for the 1st National Congress of ABRAPAV.
• 1st National Congress of ABRAPAV, in São Paulo.
• Preparation of Regulation and establishment of the 2016-2019 Electoral Process.
• Election of the 2016-2019 ABRAPAV Board.

2017

• Review and approval of the new ABRAPAV Statute.
• Creation of the ABRAPAV Newsletter.
• First Introduction Course to Aviation Psychology in São Paulo.

2018

• Realization of the 2nd Course of Introduction to Aviation Psychology, in Rio de Janeiro/RJ.
• Elaboration and approval of ABRAPAV's Internal Regulations.
• Registration of the ABRAPAV trademark at the National Institute of Industrial Property.

2019

• Organization of the 2nd National Congress of ABRAPAV and 1st International Congress of Aviation Psychology, in Rio de Janeiro.
• Edition and launch of book 2 “The flights of Psychology in Brazil: Studies and practices in aviation”.
• Preparation of Regulation and establishment of the 2019-2022 Electoral Process.
• Election of the 2019-2022 ABRAPAV Board.
• Inclusion of ABRAPAV as a Corporate Member of the European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP).

2020

• Insertion of ABRAPAV in the National Forum of Brazilian Psychological Entities (FENPB).
• Collaboration agreement between ABRAPAV and the Brazilian Society of Psychology (SBP).
• 3rd Course of Introduction to Aviation Psychology, online.
• Creation of the ABRAPAV Newsletter.
• Technical-scientific partnership with ASAGOL for the publication of articles on Human Factors and Operational Safety, in its Magazine ASAGOL Safety News.

2021

• Participation as Founding Member of the Unión Latinoamericana de la Psicología Aeronáutica - ULAPA.
